New Castle, DE – February 2008 — Inspired by the shape of Asian rice bowls, Emile Henry softened the edges, added beautiful glazes and finished if off with the potter’s stamp on the bottom, The Japanese Cup makes a sensational statement in the bold Mediterranean colors of azure, cerise, citron and vert or a sophisticated, soothing table setting in slate, sand, sky and fique. The Japanese Cup is also available in the classic fashion colors of white and black.

The Japanese Cup is 4inches in diameter and holds 7oz. The cup is modern, elegant, casual and refined and works as a bowl, cup or individual baking dish. The vessel is sized right for baking individual cobblers, cakes, puddings and potpies.

It is made from Burgundy clay so it retains heat longer at the table. It can be placed directly into a preheated oven or in the microwave so soups, stews and beverages can be heated directly in the cup.

Emile Henry, located in the Burgundy town of Marcigny, is presently run by Jacques Henry, a fifth-generation descendant of the founder. A team of potters makes each piece by hand, maintaining the traditional high quality that French cooks have come to trust in Emile Henry poterie culinaire. The Japanese Cup retails for $7.
