Garlic Oil and Parmesan Popcorn

This recipe uses homemade garlic oil to flavor the popcorn. The process is easy and the oil can be used in virtually any dish. The popcorn will taste amazing and be way better than any bagged popcorn you can find in your local grocery store.

6-10 peeled, partly smashed

1 cup extra virgin olive oil

¼ cup popcorn kernels

Pinch of salt

2-3 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese

In a small Mauviel Saucepan combine 6-10 cloves garlic and 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil (the more cloves the stronger the taste.)

Over medium low, heat the oil until bubbles start to form around the garlic. Turn the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat, and leave to cool for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Remove the cloves and save for later if you wish. Pour the garlic oil into a bowl or oil cruet and use as necessary.

In the Lekue Popcorn maker, pour in ¼ cup kernels (the second line on the bottom of the popcorn bowl.)

Add the pinch of salt, lightly put the lid on the popcorn maker and place in the microwave.

Cook the popcorn for 3 minutes. Stop the popcorn if there are long pauses in between popping, you don’t want the popcorn to burn.

Remove the popcorn from the microwave, take the lid off and set aside.

Drizzle 1 ½ tbsp. of garlic oil over the popcorn. Place the lid back on and gently shake to distribute the oil while still holding only the lid. Sprinkle 2-3 tbsp. of parmesan cheese over the popcorn, and repeat the process of shaking it.

Remove the lid and enjoy.
