Emile Henry Stewpot

By stealing some elements from the chemist’s periodic chart, Emile Henry has created a ceramic cookware that sits on a grill over hot flames, coals or wood. The Emile Henry Flame-Top stewpot is the perfect bean pot or chili pot.  Made from all natural Burgundy Clay, Flame-Top’s gently and even cooking is ideal for preparing baked beans, sauces, soups, macaroni and cheese, even cornbread, on the grill. With the Flame-Top, there is no need to turn on the stove when the grill is fired up.  Unlike metal cookware, the flame-top pot can sit on a very hot open flame, empty, for an extended period of time and it won’t crack, discolor or break.

Enhancing the gentle cooking properties of the clay, the raised dots on the underneath side of the lid distribute evaporated juices directly back into the cooking food.  This self-basting technique produces a more thoroughly cooked, tender and moist dish than with traditional lids, which force liquids to run down the sides of the pot, and which contribute to uneven cooking.  The pots are light enough so that they can be carried comfortably from the grill to the table even when full of food.  The lug handles are easy to grasp, even when using BBQ mitts.

The pot is dishwasher safe and can be cleaned with soap and water, no scrubbing needed even when baked beans caramelize on the lip of the pot.  Easy to use, easy to clean, a must-have for the grill master in the family.
